If you’re familiar with my story, you know I’ve struggled with weight, body and self image issues my entire life.

I started dieting at six years old and continued through adulthood. I tried every diet, diet pill and workout program out there and failed miserably to reach my weight loss goals.

But–I  finally figured it out WHY. And lo-and-behold, it has nothing to do with diet and exercise.  Once I figured this out, I was finally able to change my results.

I lost weight, and I got fit. I even did a little fitness competition. In a bikini!

So – I’m going to share this with you today.

    Oh my gosh! You are a great inspiration to all of us! I dream of going to the beach, wear a bikini and still be as confident as you are just like how it is shown in the photo. I hate my body right now especially my arms. I used to be so conscious of my legs as well to the point wherein I don’t want to wear skirts or shorts anymore. You are amazing, Kat!

      Aww, thanks for sharing Amanda! I was exactly the same way for a very long time. I hid behind big, baggy clothes and never wore shorts or tank tops. I literally avoided being in public!

      Amanda, life is too short not to go to the beach, don’t you think? =)

    This is one of my favorite podcasts. I can already feel my metabolism slowing down maybe because I am in my 20s already. I didn’t know that I can deal with weight loss in this angle, beginning with my thoughts and not just the physical part of me. I am so thankful that I got to listen to this!

      Wow, thanks Amanda! I’m so glad to hear you say this. =) Our mind is a very powerful thing, and we should definitely leverage it accomplish any and ALL of our goals, including weight loss goals!

        I am really struggling with consistency. There will be weeks wherein I am really focused, I eat healthy and exercise, but there were also weeks wherein I would just eat anything and not exercise at all. I’m really having a hard time especially with avoiding junk food.

        What do you do when you feel frustrated to the point of giving up? How do you transform your mind?

    The root of the problem is in what we think! I never thought that our thoughts can be this powerful. I really love this – Our thoughts trigger feelings and our feelings turn into emotions and it directly affects our behavior, and our behavior leads to our outcome.

    I think we can also get this lesson from how monks live their lives. It is amazing how they can achieve many things from reflecting.

      Wow that’s an interesting point about monks. I’m sure one of their main principles in life is centered around the power of awareness. But again, I’m not too surprised because these principles I speak about are not my own, the are universal and they are ancient!

    The diagrams made understanding a lot easier! How long did it take for you to reach your target weight? What else did you do to attain that?

      Hi Danielle, thank you for the feedback! The biggest learning out of all of this was that it is actually NOT about reaching a target weight. It is about changing my FEELINGS about myself and my body. Once I decided to love and enjoy my body, the stress of dieting disappeared and the transformation happened quickly. This is not about a designation, but a continuous journey of health and vitality. The most important thing is to ENJOY the feeling of movement and feeding oneself with nutritious food. It just simply FEELS GOOD. That’s how I made it happen. =)
